Diagnostic Evaluation – Your first visit with Dr.Craig is an hour long and will entail a complete assessment of your current symptoms as well as past psychiatric and medical history. A treatment plan will be proposed that will include medication and non-medication options.
Pre-Pregnancy Consultation – Dr. Craig will see you in consultation to assist you in a risk vs. benefit analysis of medication use in pregnancy and/or lactation.
Medication Management – Dr. Craig will follow patients taking medication with periodic visits designed to reassess your symptoms and your need for medication. Other non-pharmacologic strategies will be discussed as well. Dr. Craig finds it impossible to do this type of visit in less than 20-30 minutes.
Prevention Strategies – Dr. Craig will meet with patients planning to become pregnant or patients who are currently pregnant to devise strategies to prevent postpartum illness. Spouses or partners are encouraged to attend. Patients have found these visits to be especially helpful.
Psychotherapy – while most visits with Dr. Craig include some brief psychotherapy, long term insight-oriented psychotherapy is also available.
Collaboration – Dr. Craig will work with your therapist, primary care doctor, OB-GYN, Reproductive Endocrinologist, or Perinatologist in collaboration to make sure your care is coordinated when necessary.
